I googled "run the Teton Crest Trail" and this came up. So I thought this would be a great time to ask someone who knows first hand.

I would like to run the TCT in 3 sections. What would be your suggestions (entry/exit points)? I was thinking 1. Phillips to the Tram 2. Tram to Death Canyon 3. Death Canyon to Paintbrush Canyon. Is this logical? I'm not quite to the ultra running caliber. So I thought breaking it up would be a good idea.

There will be far too much snow remaining in the high country in May and June to allow for foot travel. A ski tour would be possible in May, but the trail really doesn't open up for hiking and running until mid/late July usually.

Awesome! :) Love reading about your adventures, Trevor! Someday I'd like to be skilled enough to ski in the backcountry. Need to practice on the resort slopes a bit more though I think. I came across this in a google search. I just thought I'd let you know that I did the Philips-Paintbrush as a day hike last summer (I'm not a trail runner). I GPSed it at 40.3 miles to the String Lake trail head.

Yeah, Ame, I'm content with what I've put on the blog. Don't have the interest in putting a book together. Table is pretty popular as it is. Especially on the weekends in August. ; )

And yes Mike, I have not ascended Table any other way than the direct route. The steepness is what thrills me. A winter ascent is such a larger undertaking than in the summer that's for sure! I will look for you up there!

I didn't realize you were using the face for your ascent. I assumed you were using the North Teton Creek route.

Congrats on your 12th month. I'm planning my own snowshoe ascent sometime this winter. Maybe I'll see you up there.

From the summit of Table Mtn, I have been downclimbing the east side of the peak, then wrapping my way around south down the steep talus slope to the saddle below the south side of Table. You can also turn south to that saddle just before heading up the west side of the summit block. From there, there is a very faint footpath (multiple footpaths in places) meandering south towards Hurricane Pass. Some of this will possibly be completely off trail, but you can easily see where you need to go. I highly reccommend the loop! It's one of my favorites! Just be prepared as the talus slope on the south side of Table is steep and loose.
And yes, I was running the TCT on Aug 6th so that was most likely me. Great to see you out there! Were you with the group of kids?

Question...so how do you get from Table Mountain to Alaska Basin. We have been trying to figure that out as that would be an awesome loop to go up Teton Canyon to Alaska Basin and then up to Hurricane Pass and over to Table Mountain and then down and back to the parking lot.

It's perfect to not have to do any back tracking to get back to the parking lot.

BTW...were you running the Teton Crest the weekend of August 6th? We saw someone that started up Philips Pass and he stopped and talked to us for a moment while we were hiking up to Sunset Lake. Your water bottles and face look really familiar.

Anywho, it's refreshing to see other people that love to get out and enjoy the wonderful beauty of this area. Have a great day and thanks for your time!

We absolutely LOVE the Teton Crest Trail!! We've been hiking it(or at least parts of it) for the past 6 years.

It is the most gorgeous country ever and world class hiking as well! We've met people from all over the world while hiking up there.

I wish that there weren't all the regulations of the bear canisters and having to get backcountry permits. We've hiked from the Tram to Jenny Lake three times and hiked the Paintbrush trail 2 times.

However, our favorite is to hike up Teton Canyon, up Devils Stairs and down into Alaska Basin and sleep either in Alaska Basin or at Sunset Lake and then do day hikes up to Buck Mountain, or Hurricane Pass, or wherever, our legs take us.

By doing this, we don't have to get any backcountry permits and we still get to enjoy the beauty of being up on the Teton Crest Trail.

Looks like you do some amazing hiking! The mountains feed my soul that's for sure!

It's definitely snowshoe-able/ski/boardable. Year-round. Avy danger appears to be pretty minimal as the steepest areas are well-protected by trees on the lower slopes and the upper slopes are, for the most part, less than 30 degrees. I'm sure you could get something to slide if you travel off the main route, but the main route is pretty safe.
