Last February 20th, I hiked and skied 12 laps on Mt. Glory. 19,638 feet climbed with skis on my back and 19,638 feet skied to raise money for Camp To Belong. It's snowing again and I'm ready for the 2nd edition! Click the logo for more info and ways to support camp!
Camp To Belong - Elk Mountain Grand Traverse
We're racing the Elk Mtn Grand Traverse this March, a 40 mile ski race across the roof of Colorado in the middle of the night! Click for updates on our training and fundraising progress!
So it's off to Wasatch. My buddy Trevor (What? Another Trevor?!) will be starting his first hundy tomorrow morning and I'm jumping in around mile 65ish to help bring him in to the finish. I think he's gonna have a great race provided he starts off slow and takes care of his feet, legs, and nutrition. It's really pretty simple the strategy needed to pull off a successful 100 mile run. Putting it into practice is the difficult part. Each wrong move at the beginning can compound quickly towards the middle and end until there's simply no chance for recovery. The trick is not making those wrong moves (like burning too much energy too early on or not eating or drinking enough) or at least catching them early enough so they don't become bigger issues later.
Trevor knows all this and he knows the daunting task ahead and respects it for the monumental challenge it is. I think he'll do great. See you next week!
